Day 10 (29/07/2007)

Another highlight of the trip…. On day 10, we went to, perhaps one of the most famous tourist attraction in Victoria, Australia, the Great Ocean Road. The Great Ocean Road is a 273km stretch of road along the South Eastern coast of Australia between the Victorian cities of Geelong and Warrnambool. The road was constructed as a Memorial to the First World War. It is one of Australia's great scenic coastline drives. The Great Ocean Road starts at Torquay and travels westward to the outskirts of Warrnambool.
Our first stop of the day was a lookout point near the Split Point Lighthouse at Aireys Inlet, which is a small town on the Great Ocean Road. It’s only about 90mins from Melbourne City.

It was where we saw the “Beef Patty” of the ocean… haha…. It’s actually called the Table Rock.
Table Rock a.k.a. Beef Patty

Just nearby is the Eagle Rock. Both are actually volcanic rock stacks rising from the ocean.

Next stop was Lorne, a seaside town on Louttit Bay, where we had our picnic while overlooking the beautiful blue sea….

After that, we made a short stop somewhere Koala Cove Cafe in Kennett River. Just nearby, is a small koala santuary.
Finally, we reached the main attraction of the Great Ocean RoadThe Twelve Apostles (or what’s left of it… haha) The Twelve Apostles are a collection of natural limestone stacks standing just off shore in the Port Campbell National Park. Entrance to the Twelve Apostles

Read my lips, “The best time to watch the formations in their full glory is from 4pm onwards.” As we went in winter, the sunsets rather early at about 5.30pm…. Anyway, we reached at about 4pm…. The view was JUST AMAZING!!!! It was really a great place and time to be in….. The Twelve Apostles

Day 11 (30/07/2007)

Well, nothing much happened on this day really…. In the morning, we made our way to the Royal Botanic Gardens where Rabbit apparently lost his bestowed title as “The Navigator”. Heheheh… Royal Botanic Gardens

Next, we visited Williamstown which is one of the oldest suburbs of Melbourne. It is a 30-minute train journey from Flinders Street Station.

Day 12 (31/07/2007)

Yea! Bidding starts! So anti-climatic….. that means I have to be somewhere with convenient access to the internet to monitor the bidding process…. So, I basically roamed around the city area….
And, I happened to chance upon this little alleway off Little Bourke Street that seemed to be taken right out of a storybook setting. There were 2 facets to this wonderful little alley. On one side, it had a very Bohemian feel. On the other side is the amazing graffiti corner. It is actually the back alley of some shophouses and all the walls surrounding place are painted with some of the nicest graffiti art I’ve ever seen.
Next, I had this really delicious fries at the Lord of the Fries, which is located just across the Flinders Street Station near Elizabeth Street. I think I had a box of fries with their famous Belgian sauce as topping…. Yum-my!

Day 13 (01/08/2007) – Final day L so sad!
We had our last stroll along Swanston Street…. And I brought Rabbit to the grafiti alley….. and then we did the last bit of packing before James drove us to Southern Cross station to take the airport shuttle at about 10.30am….. I’m so sad….. The End!
